The Fania label is back again, providing us the availability of some of the best classic Salsa ever recorded. Now under new ownership, Fania officially launched its www.Fania.com web site, which will make available a great part of their archived catalog. I understand more titles will become available over time.

Tito Rodriguez

Gilberto Santa Rosa
I’m glad that Fania is back, as all good salseros recognize the important role this labe played in the boom of Salsa. Fania is first showcasing a collection they made of the work of the great Puerto Rican maestro Tito Rodriguez. Rodriguez was one of the “Big 3″ of the 1950s and 60′s along with Machito and Tito Puente. I would say Tito Rodriguez was the original “Caballero de la Musica Latina”. He was good looking, articulate, and had a great stage personality, which made him seem at home in front of an audience, and could just hipnotize it with his courtesy and charm. He is one of Gilberto Santa Rosa idols, perhaps explaining why Santa Rosa became “El Caballero de la Salsa”.
Fania is highlighting its launch of Fania.com with the recent launch of Tito Rodriguez’s “El Inolvidable”, a 2-CD set with a collection of hits from the late great singer.
Below is an official communicate from Fania announcing the launch of www.Fania.com.
Fania records in the digital world
In our brave new world of digital communication, people from different parts of the world can connect and meet each other in an interactive space where they can share their passion. This space allows them to get together and participate as if they were elbow to elbow admiring the talented Fania All Stars going all out at Yankee Stadium. This love for Fania and ability to get all of us together in a single place is the idea that inspired us to create Fania.com.
We want to reach each and every single one of you wherever you are, to get to know you, and for you to know and cherish the endless richness from, without a doubt, one of the deepest and most inspiring music catalogs that has ever existed. Our hope is to share our passion for Fania with you and provide you interesting and up to date content at Fania.com. Here you will get to know everything about the Salsa artists, the Latin Soul and other genres, Hector Lavoe albums, sub labels and so much more through complete bios, album information, pictures and the highest quality MP3 audio for an experience that you can’t get anywhere else.
We also look forward to an on-going dialogue with you. You can participate in the Fania digital experience with your comments, by sharing with friends, or being the first one to know about our new releases through Fania.com.
It doesn’t matter if you are here or there, at the Fania.com blog, we’ll also be ‘dusting off’ the old records that can only be found at the Fania headquarters and bringing them back to you with audio samples, album covers, and in-depth information from the most knowledgeable Faniatics. Our News section intends to keep you informed with “what’s going on today” in the Fania world, our culture, our people and, of course, the love for music. Searching the Fania catalog by artists, genres, labels, series, etc. without the blink of an eye has been more than a dream for everybody.
The timeless music from Fania artists sounds as sensational today as it did back then, but with the remasters it has a depth that only the technology of today can offer. The magic touch of Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz, Willie Colon, Johnny Pacheco, Ruben Blades and all the artists that made Fania what it was will all be here at Fania.com.
Also, for your listening pleasure there will be a streaming internet radio station with different channels programmed, playlists from those talented enthusiasts that share our love for Fania and charts with the best from our artists.
