Latin Jazz Video: Arturo O’Farrill NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert

How Arturo O’Farrill was able to bring in most of this band into NPR’s Tiny Desk concert is beyond me. I’m glad he did because Arturo and his band were able to deliver some good Latin Jazz music in this miniature (and I mean…miniature) setup.

If you’re familiar with NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, you know it’s done in…well…behind a small desk! It’s literally an office open cubicle. Most guest artist bring one or perhaps 2 other musicians to help them with the music. Arturo O’Farrill brought along at least 7 other musicians. That’s about half of his big band They obviously couldn’t fit them all behind the desk, so they had to spread them out a bit.

As much as I loved Arturo’s band performance, you would think he could have just done a solo piano piece or adapt a song for a trio. But somehow he convinced the NPR folks to allow him to bring the ensemble with him.

Here is the video of Arturo O’Farrill’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert.

Enjoy!
