New Album “Magic” Has Various Collaborations

Brazilian Latin music star Sergio Mendes
Sergio Mendes album “Magic” (2014) includes several collaborations with talented artists.

When I talked to Sergio last year, he was expecting to release his album “Magic” by the end of May 2014. It actually came out in August, and it is good as he promised, with collaborations with John Legend, Milton Nascimento, Carlinhos Brown, Seu Jorge, Maria Gadu, and others.

Sergio has been quite busy making music in 2014. He worked on the Soundtrack of the movie Rio 2, produced a few songs for the 2014 Soccer World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, one of which “One Nation”, is included in “Magic”, and then did this new album with all these artists.

Mendes talked to me about all this music in our conversation last year. Here’s an audio clip of that conversation:

Visit to Seattle’s Jazz Alley

After all the music produced in 2014, Sergio Mendes and his band are on tour playing all that music, and the classics he has been making since the early 60’s, when he got noticed in the U.S. with his version of “Mais Que Nada”.

So what will Sergio play in his stop at the Jazz Alley and beyond? Here’s an audio clip of my conversation with Sergio Mendes last year, where he responds to that question:

Sergio Mendes’ tour will stop at Seattle’s Dimitrious Jazz Alley on Thursday, April 23rd to Sunday April 26, 2015.
